My Story
My name is Laurie Anne and I am passionate about the art of dressmaking, garment fit and construction. I fell in love with sewing when I was 5 years old when my mom signed me up for a sewing class at our local Joann Fabrics and I have not stopped sewing since! When I was 8 years old I joined the 4-H program and began entering my hand-sewn clothing in county and state-wide fashion shows. I designed and made my first gown when I was 14 years old, my first prom dress! I went on to study Fashion Design at Drexel University where I found my true passion for pattern making and the technical side of garment design. After college I began working in the fashion industry as an apparel technical designer.
While working full-time in the fashion industry, I began focusing on bridal sewing part-time in 2012 teaching myself the ins and outs of wedding dress construction, alterations and fit. I started Restitched Designs in 2017. I spent 7 years working a full-time job, starting a family of my own and building my dream business in my "spare time". I just can never get enough of the bridal excitement! Whether its a custom gown, veil, or alterations, I love watching a bride's face light up when she sees her gown on for the first time when it fits perfectly! I am passionate about garment construction and pattern making. Wedding gowns are complex and detailed therefore require a seamstress with an elaborate skillset, I'm that seamstress! I will make you feel confident and beautiful in your gown, and we'll have so much fun working together!
